“The goal is to laugh forever with someone you take seriously”

Morgan Fillyaw married Michael Morgan on April 14th, 2018. Can you guess the bride's new name? Morgan Morgan! How exciting that the last name of the love of her life is the first name she has had all of her life. Michael and Morgan tied the knot in Porterdale, GA at the Mill at Yellow River. In front of roughly 100 guests, they both said 'I do’ and sealed their vows with a kiss.

I met Morgan years ago in the fifth grade in Orlando, FL. We were both in Mrs. Churchville's class at Conway Elementary School and sat at the same table. Fast-forward 18 years and now it’s 2018. We crossed paths in Atlanta, GA and reconnected last summer. Of all the weddings I have planned, this one seemed sentimental to me, because I was able to witness and assist a childhood friend walk down the aisle to her forever love. Sitting in our fifth grade class, I would have never imagined that we would meet up again-and in Atlanta at that!

It truly was a wedding to remember! Once the guests were settled in their seats, the bridal party got in position to meet at the altar. The groomsmen strolled in from the right hand side while the bridesmaids coyly made their entrance from the fenced in red brick balcony, down the aisle. After the ceremony and cocktail hour, the couple began their reception by laughing and dancing beneath bistro lights for their first dance. The evening was all things whimsical and you could feel the love between Morgan and Michael all night long. Cheers to the newlyweds! May your days be as sweet as your love for one another.

A Bold, Floral February

“A flower doesn’t wish to be a different color, or want for more petals; it just reaches towards the sunshine and blooms.”

IMG_0784.jpg

Flowers are a love language. Okay… maybe they’re not, but they should be. I adore flowers and the life they bring to each wedding. Perfectly petaled aisles welcome the bride as she approaches her forever love. Beautifully fastened boutonnières on the lapels of loyal friends, brighten the bridal party at the altar. Carefully curated buds hang off of the manicured hands of your very best friends and instantly begin a new chapter of best friendship. That’s what flowers do. They change the atmosphere. That’s what we believe, thus Blooms by OSE was born!

Blooms by OSE is the floral side of One Soul Events where we curate florals for your bridal party and beyond. We curate the florals according to your vision and desired style.

In January, we participated in a styled shoot where we created the florals. The shoot was outdoors in the middle of winter. There was no snow in sight, even after a 'wintery mix' had come through Atlanta. For the bouquet, we used plenty of lush greenery and deep bold burgundy peonies. This was the first time we had worked with peonies and we loved them! To brighten up the dark winter bouq, we added a soft peach tiffany rose to the mix. This certainly illuminated the flowers in her hair and with her bouquet. We thoroughly enjoyed participating in the woodland styled chic elopement. It was everything elegant, gorgeous, and stylish- all things that we stand for. Below you will see the gallery of shots from that whimsical shoot.

Our goal is to help produce stunning bridal party florals in the form of bridal bouquets, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, usher and host's pins. We have now launched Blooms by OSE and you can see what we offer here. Take a look at some of our past wedding bouqs and let us know how we can brighten your wedding with gorgeous fresh flowers!

A Natural Neutral Elegance

Elegant – pleasingly graceful and stylish in appearance or manner.

Stylish. Graceful. Tasteful. Sophisticated. Classic. Chic. Smart. Fashionable. Dashing. Modish. Refined. Poised. Lovely, Charming. Debonair. This pretty much sums up the look, feel, and atmosphere of the styled shoot celebrating Alicia + Ray’s nuptials!

Altar.jpg

When Kiyah, Kiyah C. Photography, and I considered the theme for the shoot, we thought about the nature of the couple and how we wanted to portray their love. They were expecting a sweet baby girl at the time, and wanted to bring the maternity shoot and wedding full circle with a photo shoot. We strived to share 3 of the most memorable scenes of a wedding: pre-wedding prep at her vanity, ceremony vows at the altar, and the intimate sweetheart table.

We went for a non-traditional pre-wedding prep idea and decided to set the vanity outdoors among the lush greenery. The clash of pure white and gold accents on the dark green grass was astonishing. Pre-wedding prep for brides can be an equally emotional time for the bride and her family. Alicia had a very special heirloom from her grandmother, who recently passed.

I remember watching the couple during the shoot. Alicia looked right up into Ray’s eyes and couldn’t help but giggle and laugh as they shared what they wrote for each other in their vow books. Wedding ceremonies are full of bright smiles, caring family + friends, and a super-in-love bride and groom. It was just the two of them and a flower-adorned iron altar for Alicia and Ray’s nuptials. It was breathtaking.

We wrapped up the shoot with one of the most intimate parts of the wedding: the sweetheart table. I love sweetheart tables! I believe this is one of the few areas in a wedding where the couple has a few moments to themselves after they’ve said ‘I do’. We wanted a cascading floral centerpiece that reached from the center of the table to the bottom of the white linen, along with plenty of tea light candles.

Would you believe this was our first styled shoot? I am super stoked to share that we have been published in Black Nuptials! You can read all about the heart behind the shoot here. THANK YOU to all of the amazing vendors that came together to make this a phenomenal shoot; from start to finish, you were all rockstars!

It Takes Two to Tango

A First Dance to Remember

It was a bright summer-fall day and the soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. Halls were beaming after a gorgeous tear-streamed wedding ceremony. The bride and groom arrived at the reception, still reeling from their “I do’s”… the time had come to celebrate their nuptials!

A mariachi band welcomed the bride and groom during the outdoor cocktail hour, right before the reception. Summer was winding down, but it was still appropriate for the band to perform the hit song of the summer, Despacito. What a treat! As the guests funneled into the reception hall, the bridal party lined up and prepared to enter the reception.

The reception was set. Tall gold vases held up a stunning mix of white hydrangeas and pink roses, on each table. At the base of each vase, was a handcrafted canvas (created by the bride and her sister!) with the lavender tones of the wedding theme. Each place setting included a shiny gold charger  with a freshly baked macaroon, individually wrapped, at the top of each setting. The scene was spectacular. The bride originally planned to have an outdoor wedding, in which she would have hung lavender-colored lit lanterns to light the night. Due to some unforeseen conditions, the reception was moved inside. However! The bride still wanted to have lanterns, so we hung them inside over the dance floor; it was a sight to see.

Each guest took their seat and the bridal party was welcomed to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”. The song slowly faded to Michael Buble’s “L.O.V.E.” and the bride and groom walked in and headed straight to the dance floor for their first dance. As the couple gazed into one another's eyes, they prepared for what would be a special surprise for their family and friends.

As the song transitioned to La Vie en Rose/El Tango de Roxanne, Laura and Allen performed a stupendous tango dance that left everyone in the reception wanting more! With each whirl and dip, the audience followed along, staring at the couple whirling on the dance floor. Laura and Allen captured everyone's attention in those few minutes and left everyone in awe.

This was a wedding to remember. Such a wonderful time and fun atmosphere the whole way through! Laura and Allen spent the evening dancing with their parents, bridal party, and each other. I can honestly say, I don't remember the couple being off the dance floor longer than a song or two! I especially enjoyed the couples first dance, because that is my favorite part of a wedding!

The April [Faux] Bride

Here comes the bride, all dressed in white.…or not.

The chapel was bustling with joy-filled family members and friends. The aisle was lined with teal and purple rose petals and the sunshine of the morning poured in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The officiant was in place. The groom was at the altar, ready to receive his bride. The bridal party danced their way into the chapel to Michael Jackson’s Love Never Felt So Good. Chloe (the pup) and the gorgeous flower girl, Lauren, strolled down the aisle leading the way for the beautiful bride, Patrice, to be revealed. The anticipation escalated as the guests prepared for the bride to arrive.

As the guests arose, the wedding march sounded in the background, and the groom stared down the aisle. As everyone looked toward the door, they noticed it was not their beautiful freckled friend, but instead a curly haired girl who was NOT the bride-to-be. Gasps turned into laughs as the faux bride in white started down the aisle with a sign in hand that read “Here Comes the Bride”.

Faux bride

The groom had been bamboozled on the start of what was the beginning of forever with his bride, Patrice. His utter shock turned grimace then turned emoji-laughing face as the large wooden chapel doors opened to reveal his TRUE bride. As she entered, smiling ear-to-ear and arm-and-arm with her father, the bride could not help but giggle down the aisle. When the bride reached the altar, the groom could not stop laughing and gazing at his bride. She had successfully pulled off an April Fools joke to be remembered!

Groom

I am always so thrilled to see how couples intertwine their personality into their wedding day. Everything from the ballads chosen for the entrance to their sweet puppy trotting down the aisle, the Caltons’ included all the fun they have in their relationship into their special day. The faux bride was just the start of a ceremony full of laughs. As the ceremony progressed the bride pulled out what seemed to be the longest list of vows in the form of notecards that tumbled to the ground! The crowd laughed out loud and the groom couldn’t hold back either. The bride and groom said their vows and made their commitment to one another in front of  their loved ones and the ceremony ended in a beautiful embrace and joy that filled the entire room.

Vows

Just like the groom waited at the altar, wait for the real thing. We WILL encounter counterfeit versions of what God truly has for us in the way of jobs, opportunities, and maybe even a faux bride/groom. Don’t settle based out of fear. Always remember that you are not inferior, but superior. You are not a failure, but victorious. You are not set aside, but chosen. Chosen to live your very best life and called to live an extraordinary life! Be great, friends!

You have been cordially invited!

You’ve been invited to share in my dream, my passion, and my life

I am beyond excited that you are here and that I get to share myself with you. I enjoy sharing my gifts of administration, service, and encouragement with each person I meet. Here’s a special invitation to a closer look

Who do you admire most?

I’ve known her since I can remember and she helps me view the world through eyes of love. The person whom I admire most is the only other person who knows me best, my mother, Xiomara. She is truly the embodiment of all things humble and noble. Her multifaceted creativity inspires me to make all things around me beautiful. I am thankful that she has given me her skillful hands and her captivating smile. Although she has beautiful physical features, I believe that her best characteristic is her ability to love people right where they are. Her inviting spirit makes her glow; she’s a light and I am blessed to call her mom.

What do you enjoy most about weddings?

My heart wants to say that I love everything about weddings! What’s not to love about the celebration of pure, sincere love? After all the planning, and greeting, and tying loose ends, it is so phenomenal to see the special day come together beautifully. There is one part about weddings that especially touches my soul, and that is the first dance. This wedding tradition is so symbolic of the covenant that the couple has just made, and it so gracefully depicts the journey that the couple is about to embark on. Some of my favorite first dance ballads are:

Lifehouse’s You + Me, John Legend’s You and I, and this 90s throwback, All My Life by K-Ci & JoJo

 Switzerland Mountains | Summer 2011

Switzerland Mountains | Summer 2011

Where is the farthest you’ve traveled?

I flew over the Atlantic Ocean over to Europe and visited Aigle, Switzerland for the summer. I spent six blissful and studious weeks backpacking through Europe with my study abroad program with my alma mater, Florida State University (Go Noles!). My eyes beheld some of the most awe-inspiring cityscapes and sights. The most vivid memories I have are of the mountainous terrains and delectable plates I was able to savor. Take me back!

When did you fall in love with planning?

I distinctly remember my mother throwing a lot of birthday parties and gatherings when I was younger. She would create these elaborate party favors and venue decor. I was always in awe! She would wake my sister and I up early in the morning to prepare for the celebration that evening. It was such a wonderful time! Picture this: decor spread out everywhere ready to be hung and furniture moved to its proper place for festivities. I also remember all the delicious food cooking in the oven. For one party, I remember walking around as a little girl, and sitting in all the chairs basking in the beauty of the event my mother so masterfully fashioned. That was the moment I fell in love with planning! And before every event, the same feeling of excitement and anticipation rushes over me.

This is only a snapshot of my life and love for planning.
I hope to meet you and look forward to getting to know your dreams, passions, and life too!
